Sweater Weather

The cold months after New Year's always seem to last forever.  I am ready for spring, but unfortunately sweater weather is still in full swing!  To make the wait for warmer weather a little bit easier, I find that pieces with pastel hues do the trick.  They also make transitioning your wardrobe from winter to spring so much easier!

American Girl

Nashville has been so cold lately and I don't know what I would have done without this amazing faux fur coat!  My mom surprised me with the coat and this adorable American flag infinity scarf for Christmas (thanks, Mom!).  The temperatures here are supposed to rise this weekend, but until then I will be bundled up in this fluffy coat.  Have a happy and (hopefully) warm Tuesday!

University of Kentucky

I was born and raised a UK Wildcats fan in Lexington, Kentucky.  Both Mr. Jones and I went to different universities (I am a proud graduate of the University of Cincinnati DAAP program), however we remain devoted to our home team.  This explains why this vintage Kentucky sweater is indeed the most coveted item in my closet.  Not only is it a rare find, but I get compliments on it all of the time!  Since stumbling upon this unique piece of Wildcat history, I have been on the lookout for a similar varsity sweater that would fit Mr. Jones.  I haven't found one yet, but that doesn't mean I can't make one!  Below you will find a list of items to make your own varsity cardigan.  If you aren't keen on sewing the patch on yourself, take the cardigan and patch to your local tailor for a small fee.  If you create your own varsity cardigan, tag @meandmr.jones on instagram, I would love to see how you show your school spirit!

Pop The Champagne

Monogram Gift Wrap

Happy Thursday, everyone!  Mr. Jones and I still have a few gifts to buy, but I wanted to share our holiday gift wrap and some more holiday decor with you!  For the past couple of years, I have used brown packing paper to wrap our gifts and this year I wanted to try something different.  I found the ivory and gold wrapping paper at HomeGoods and stumbled upon the black kraft paper at Michaels.  To tie everything together, I bought red and green velvet ribbon at HomeGoods, chalkboard ribbon at Hobby Lobby, and chalkboard gift tags at Target.  I absolutely loved the way our gift wrap turned out this year, I hope you do too!

Christmas Cocktails

Christmas is so soon, but it isn't too late to mix up some adorably delicious holiday cocktails!  I created two cocktails that are easy to make and don't require many ingredients.  I love a good craft cocktail, but I'll leave that to the real professionals at my favorite restaurants.  I hope you enjoy them as much as Mr. Jones and I did!

MRS-tletoe:

1. For Cranberry Ice Cubes: Add 3-4 cranberries per ice cube, fill with water, freeze.

2. For Red Sugar Rim: Pour sugar out onto a plate. With a lime, lemon, or orange, coat the top of the mason jar with juice. Press the rim of the glass onto the sugar to rim the edge.

3. Pour 1.5 oz. Vodka over cranberry ice cubes.

4. Fill the rest of the glass with Sprite zero.

5. Add a splash of cranberry juice.

Santas Little Helper:

1. Ginger Ale Ice Cubes: Fill ice cube tray with ginger ale and freeze.  Our favorite ginger ale is Ale-8-One!

2. (Optional) Red Sugar Rim: Pour sugar out onto a plate. With a lime, lemon, or orange, coat the top of the mason jar with juice. Press the rim of the glass onto the sugar to rim the edge.

3. Fill glass with ginger ale ice cubes (4-5 cubes max).

4. Pour bourbon over ice. Mr. Jones prefers Four Roses Bourbon.

5. Garnish with a few cranberries.

MRS-tletoe Maxi Skirt

Every year, I get my tinsel all in a tangle trying to find the perfect party dress.  This year, my Christmas wish was granted when I found the most beautiful mistletoe green maxi skirt.  To keep my look merry and bright, I paired it with my favorite MAC lipstick, a long sleeve crop top, and some spunky leopard pumps.  Bring on the martinis and mistletoe!

Very Merry

We've all done it.  We stop by Target to pick up a few things, and end up spending well over $100.  That's exactly what happened on my last trip to Tar-jay, but how cute is this sweater?!  It also comes in men's and both are now on sale.  Happy Holiday shopping!
