Today, I am SO EXCITED to finally show you the amazing transformation of our master bedroom! There are still projects in the works, but oh how a fresh coat of paint and new furniture from Joss & Main brought this room to life. Keep reading to see the dramatic before and after!
First, we started with a fresh coat of Sherwin Williams High Reflective White paint and WHAT A DIFFERENCE! The whole house was a medium gray when we bought it, and it made the bedroom(s) look smaller and just too dark. Although we had to use three coats of white paint, it gave this room and the whole house that bright, airy vibe that we wanted! Yay!
After painting, we started looking for beds and boy was that tough! Skyler has always wanted a wrought iron bed, but I wanted a four poster or canopy bed to compliment the vaulted ceiling (and for those #princessvibes- ha!). We FINALLY found the perfect canopy bed that my husband and I both liked on Joss & Main, but it was out of stock once we moved in. We waited for what seemed like forever (all while sleeping on two stacked mattresses on the floor), but the wait was totally worth it! It is GORGEOUS and it was so easy to put together (I did it myself)! While the metal looks very dark in some of these photos, it's really more of a deep gold.
Next, we had to find nightstands. I was so excited that we finally decided to get matching ones. Out of all of the places we've lived, we usually only have room for one or we just improvise with vintage trunks like in our Seattle apartment. We wanted something white, but other than that weren't really sure what to look for. After browsing countless pages on Joss & Main, I found THE PERFECT nightstands! They have dark gold hardware that matches the bed, embody a vintage industrial vibe like the rest of our furniture and decor in the house, and they are SO NICE! The bottom drawer is cedar lined (hello sweater storage!) and they have a built in outlet with USB ports in the back! Amazing, right?!
As for bedding, we stuck with all white for that open and airy vibe we wanted to achieve. We've had these monogrammed Euro shams forever, but they're so classic and crisp! Our sheets are fun and polka dotted, and we went with a solid white duvet from Ikea until we find one we really like. Since we mixed ivory nightstands with white bedding, I think the black and ivory striped blanket pulls everything together perfectly. Fall is approaching, so I added a small sheepskin to add some texture and cozy layering (Dwayne also LOVES laying on it if you can't tell)! I'm still searching for the perfect decorative pillow and would love to switch it out seasonally. Is it too early for a Halloween pillow?!
Eventually, we're going to replace the carpet with white or very light hardwood floors, and I would LOVE to build a barn door so that the bathroom can be closed off. I'm still trying to convince Mr. Jones on that one, so stay tuned for more fun updates! Thank y'all so much for stopping by and taking a peak into our first home, I can't wait to share more with you!
Xo,
Haley
