I’m SO EXCITED to share our modern kitchen design with y’all! I have been working on it for months now and I’m thrilled that it’s all coming together. It took us so long to find appliances to fit into our modern kitchen design and we ended up finding the perfect pieces that I’m sharing in today’s post. Keep reading for all of the details!
THE VIBE //
If you’ve been following me for awhile, you know I love a good black and white design in any room so of course our kitchen will follow suit! Skyler and I both agreed from the beginning that we wanted flat front matte black cabinets. What we didn’t realize was that they would be harder to source than we thought. Everyone gave us a shocked, “BLACK CABINETS?!” response in the beginning, but we didn’t let that get in our way or deter us from designing our dream kitchen. We are working with a local company our contractor recommended and they are sourcing the matte black cabinet fronts through a manufacture in Italy and the boxes are being locally built.
Since all of the walls in the house will be painted white, I wanted to do a light to medium gray countertop with oak floating shelves. The shelves will add some warmth to the space and match our oak dining table from our California home. I searched and searched for the perfect countertops- if you saw this Tiktok and have been following along on Instagram stories you know! We finally decided on Pietra Gray Natural porcelain countertops by Sapienstone and I’m so excited! Porcelain has the durability of quartz, you can set hot plates on it like granite, and it has the feel and look of marble! The countertop template will be done by the end of this week. Yay!
BAR AREA //
We will also have a bar which I am over the moon about. Our island isn’t perfectly centered to the back side of the kitchen, so the bar area will help balance the entire space. There we will have a wine refrigerator and floating shelves that match the oak shelves in the kitchen.
SINK & FAUCET //
The sink and faucet will really make a statement in this kitchen as they are centered to the window. We adjusted the cabinetry so it could be a focal point and I am in love with this sleek faucet with gold details. The shape is so unique and it is going to look stunning with the black cabinetry! The sink we went with is also black. I had a black sink growing up and always loved it so much and I can’t wait to have one of my own.
APPLIANCES //
Other than the matte black cabinets, Mr. Jones and I had also agreed we wanted a refrigerator that was panel ready. We want the kitchen to be very sleek and modern so having a fridge that looks like cabinetry was an integral part of our design. We had settled on one brand of appliances until our contractor told us the refrigerator we had picked out was too deep. So we had to go back to the drawing board after hours of appliance research and found a refrigerator and dishwasher that were both panel ready! I’m so excited about these and I know they are going to look so incredible.
Our island will house the microwave drawer instead of having the standard microwave-over-the-stove. I’m ecstatic about this microwave! We have friends that had this in their home and not only are they so cool, but they’re so functional and I love how it’s kind of hidden and tucked away. The microwave can fit a 4 quart casserole dish and it’s easy to open, stir, and touch to close!
The hardest piece to find in our appliance puzzle was definitely the range. In Florida, most home shave electric stoves. Putting a gas line in our home was definitely not in the budget, but I still wanted a stove that had a gas range look without a hefty price tag. We finally our this Verona range and I LOVE it! They even offer 2 different colors of knobs! It’s going to look incredible in our modern kitchen. Make sure you’re watching my Instagram stories and I’ll be sharing it when it’s delivered!

It’s that time of year- back to school! I’ll be honest, I get a little sad and nostalgic when it comes to BTS. Another school year means our kids are growing older but it also makes me think of those first day of school jitters and excitement. What it also makes me think of is all of the back to school supplies! I LOVED shopping for school supplies and checking off my list. Filling my desk or locker with all of the goodies- it was so fun! This year I thought- why have I stopped doing this for myself?! I don’t need a whole list of items but it’s a great time to stock up on some home office essentials and re-organize my space to meet the needs of my growing business! So that’s exactly what I did at Walmart!
