Happy Kentucky Derby week, y'all! No matter what state Mr. Jones and I live in, I'll always be a Kentucky girl at heart and that includes celebrating the Kentucky Derby no matter what! This year I've created a fun little mint julep bar to celebrate the first Saturday in May that will be perfect for a Derby party. Keep reading for bar cart styling tips plus links to some fun mint julep recipes!

No Kentucky Derby party is complete without mint juleps! Before you make this delightful concoction, you must have pretty mint julep cups! A lot of the bars and restaurants in Louisville give you a complimentary cup with your mint julep, which is why we have a small collection of Woodford Reserve ones. If you don't have any cups, I found these beauties that come in copper and silver.

For the mint julep bar cart, I used one of my favorite trophy cup vases to create a stunning flower arrangement. It looks professional if I do say so myself and that's because I used a trick I learned after our wedding! Before putting any flowers in the vase, use double sided tape to make an "X" over the top of the vase. This grid allows you to get the flowers to stay put and it's so easy!

If you're making traditional mint juleps, Woodford Reserve has an excellent recipe! It is the official bourbon of the Derby, too! If you're wanting to spice things up at this year's Kentucky Derby party, you could always try a Champagne mint julep. I'll definitely be mixing some of these up this year as well, I can't wait!
Cheers, y'all!
