JETT'S 5 MONTH UPDATE

November 14, 2018 Haley Jones

I’m a little late to post this as Jett is actually turning 6 months this week, but I wanted to share his 5 month update with y’all first! I also shared our daily schedule in this post here if you’re interested in what that looks like!

LIKES:

Anything crunchy! He especially loves empty water bottles which is great because mommy always has one and I can recycle it after it’s fallen on the floor. Ha!

He loves stuffed animals and holds onto them for dear life. I always had a feeling he would because he loves his wubbanubs and has always kind of pet them. He has a small Jellycat bunny that immediately calms him down when I can’t find his pacifier which is just the sweetest thing ever.

DISLIKES:

Jett still hates when you get anywhere near his nose and now is more dramatic than ever about it. He cries when I wipe his nose which of course makes me feel awful! He also gets kind of upset when you take certain toys from him. Particularly if it’s something that isn’t a toy and that he isn’t supposed to have like the gross remote- ha! Luckily he calms down the second you give him something else.

MILESTONES:

Our little boy is laughing, y’all! This might be one of my favorite milestones so far. It’s right up there with the first time he smiled at me. He really makes you work for the giggles, though!

Week 19- Jett started rolling over at night in his crib! This was a terrifying start to our week. The next day I went out and got him the Love To Dream 50/50 swaddle and we did a few nights with one arm out. Now he’s used to both arms out and sleeps with his little hands by his head- it’s so sweet.

Week 19- He started teething! I can’t believe he’s already gotten almost 2 teeth. He wasn’t super fussy but the drool was flowing. His clothes are soaked like 5 minutes after putting them on, so bibs are necessary right now!  He also loves his munch mitts and I love how they’re also like a toy that can’t be flung onto the ground! We got the 2-pack which is perfect because he can still have one to play with while the other is in the wash (or dirty).

Week 19- The weekend before our anniversary, Skyler and I went to San Diego for the weekend and Jett stayed with his grandma and grandpa (Cici & Papa aka Skyler’s parents) for the first time!  Skyler and I were both kind of worried and almost cancelled our trip since that same week Jett had started rolling over in his sleep, but I’m so glad we got some time to reconnect and have fun!  If you’re considering a weekend away, but you’re too afraid to leave baby my advice is to do it anyway! You will have so much fun and so will your baby!  Just make sure you leave them with someone who will send lots of photos and videos!

Week 20- got his first cold and of course I got it too! It didn’t last too long, but he had a little cough so I took him to the doctor as a precaution. #firsttimemom

SLEEP:

Jett is still sleeping through the night and goes down around 8-8:30pm. He typically wakes up right before 7 when Skyler gets him out of his crib to get him ready for school.

He’s still sleeping in his Love To Dream swaddle and we love it! Here soon we plan on transitioning him into the 50/50 version so that he can start sleeping with his arms out.

As for naps, he typically takes 2 a day during the week.  One from 10am- 11am and one from 1:30pm - 3:30 or 4pm.

FEED:

He is still breastfeeding at night during the week. I have to pump 3 times a day to keep up with his feedings at daycare. He gets 4 bottles during the day Monday-Friday and we love the Como Tomo bottles! I also got him these bottle labels since 3 babies at school have the same bottle.

At 16 weeks we cut out the dream feed and he’s sleeping from 8:30pm-6:45am (he will sleep a little bit later on the weekends). He gets enough ounces at daycare during the day and also breastfeeding 2 times before bed, so I decided to cut out the dream feed.  Before stopping that feed, he was having 5 ounces at 11:30pm. It’s really nice that I don’t have to wake up at 11:30 at night anymore and we never had any issues with him sleeping through the night after stopping the dream feed.

I think that’s it for this update, I’m sure there’s a lot I left out because mom brain is in full effect over here! Make sure you check out the blog later this week for some holiday updates!

Xo,

Haley
