A lot of you have expressed interest in our daily routine with Jett on my Instagram, so today I’m sharing our weekly routine with you! I have to be at work at 6am so our routine is a little bit different than most people who work a 9-5. I’m also sharing some tips for going back to work after maternity leave in regards to pumping at work!
4:30am- I wake up for work. I shower the night before and typically just brush my hair in the morning, do my makeup, and then pump. After that I make Jett’s bottle and put his milk for daycare in a cooler bag for Skyler to take with him when he drops Jett off. Next I quickly get dressed in the outfit I’ve picked out and ironed the night before. Sometimes I iron 5 tops for the week on Sunday night so I don’t have to worry about it on weeknights. After I’m done with the bottle, I take the dog on a short walk and I’m out the door to be at work by 6:00am.
6:45- Skyler gets Jett out of his crib and gets him ready for school. He doesn’t give him a bottle unless he has time or Jett is absolutely starving.
7:00- Skyler drops Jett off at school (daycare). I talked about why we call it school in this post.
AT SCHOOL (DAYCARE):
7:00am- Jett has his first bottle (the one I pumped that morning).
10:00-11:00am- Jett takes a nap.
11:00am- Jett has his second bottle.
1:00pm- Jett has another bottle.
1:30-3:30 Jett takes a nap.
3:30pm- Jett has another bottle (hungry boy)!
4:30pm- Mommy picks Jett up.
EVENING ROUTINE:
I typically get off of work at 2:30pm. After that I run errands, workout at home, workout at the gym, or go home and do house chores until I pick Jett up.
After picking him up from school, we have some play time at home. He likes laying on his mat and playing with toys or being in his activity center.
6:00pm- I breastfeed Jett for about 20 minutes. Sometimes he will eat earlier like at 5:30 it just depends on the day.
After he breastfeeds we play some more and Skyler gets home at this time. We have dinner and put Jett in his activity center or Bumbo.
7:30pm- Around 7:30 or 8pm, Jett will breastfeed once again before he goes down for the night. When he gets fussy I’ll change his diaper before feeding him so he has a fresh one on for the night.
When he’s done feeding, I put him in his sleep sack (he’s now rolling over so we aren’t swaddling him anymore).
8:00pm- I wash all of my pump parts so they dry before the next day. I also lay out my outfit (shoes, socks, and under garments included!) for the next day. After I’m done I’m usually so exhausted I go to bed but sometimes I’ll follow-up on emails or get some blogging things done before going to sleep.
For the first two weeks back at work, I pumped 3 times a day. It was exhausting. The first week I was pumping 2 times at work and each day pumped a little bit later. For example my first day back, I pumped at 10am and 1:30pm. The second day I pumped at 10:15am and 2:45pm.
By the second week I was pumping once at work (11am) and once at home. I still pump at work at 11am but continued to push back my late afternoon pump.
By the third week back to work, I was pumping for the third time after I picked Jett up from daycare. Since our freezer is full and I was pumping enough ounces in the morning, I decided to stop pumping in the evening and now only pump twice a day. Pumping after Jett got home was way too hard because sometimes he would get fussy and I couldn’t pick him up and Skyler isn’t home yet. Plus I wanted to spend that precious time with my baby and not my breast pump!
That’s our routine for now, but I’m sure it will change a lot in the coming weeks as Jett starts to eat solid food! I’m excited and terrified at the same time, if you have any tips for introducing solids, which ones to start with etc., feel free to leave them in the comments! I appreciate all of your advice always!
Have a great weekend, y’all!
Xo,
Haley
