My sister is coming to Florida with her husband and kids this weekend and I’m SO EXCITED! I’ve been working non stop on this guest bedroom. I wanted it to be super cozy but couldn’t afford a new bed so I spray painted our old bed. Yep, even the fabric pieces! I’m sharing all of the details in today’s post!
We’ve had this canopy bed forever (see it in our California home here) and in this home we can’t use the canopy pieces since we need ceiling fans in every room. During our renovation the fabric on the front of the bed got absolutely destroyed. It was so dirty and had little footprints on it from Jett climbing onto the front of the bed. I also was just kind of over the vintage vibe that the bed had so I did what I do best- SPRAY PAINTED IT! I didn’t really have another option as reupholstering a bed isn’t in the budget right now, so I figured what the heck- I’ll try it!
First I painted the entire bed frame. I assembled it in our garage and spray painted it that way so that I didn’t miss any pieces and there weren’t any drips. I used my favorite Rustoleum spray paint in flat black. Next I used a sweater shaver to shave off any pills on the headboard and footboard. It took about 4 coats of spray paint on each of these pieces. The fabric really soaked it up. In between coats I very lightly sanded it with fine sand paper. So far so good, but I’ll keep you updated after our guests stay here!
Since Jett will also be getting a bed soon (here is the inspo board) and I’ll need to buy another mattress, I got this super affordable mattress on Amazon. It was under $300 and honestly it feels really comfy and it was ready instantly after cutting open the plastic! The throw pillows are all Amazon and the quality is so good! The feather inserts are from Amazon as well and they’re really nice and fluffy.
I purchased another one of these cane dressers but i can’t decide if I should cancel the order. I kind of like the mismatched look in here, what do you think?! I’ll link similar below since this one is sold out.

It’s that time of year- back to school! I’ll be honest, I get a little sad and nostalgic when it comes to BTS. Another school year means our kids are growing older but it also makes me think of those first day of school jitters and excitement. What it also makes me think of is all of the back to school supplies! I LOVED shopping for school supplies and checking off my list. Filling my desk or locker with all of the goodies- it was so fun! This year I thought- why have I stopped doing this for myself?! I don’t need a whole list of items but it’s a great time to stock up on some home office essentials and re-organize my space to meet the needs of my growing business! So that’s exactly what I did at Walmart!
