Can you believe that the Fourth of July is almost here?! Despite the year flying by, I'm super excited about one of my favorite holidays. Last week, I shared some stylish July 4th pieces you can wear all summer and today I'm sharing some Independence Day outfit formulas guaranteed to show your patriotic spirit in style!
The first outfit combo is all about a stand-out stripe piece and mixing in the right accessories. For my look, I found this adorable stipe dress and liked it so much I bought it even though it wasn't my size. Big mistake…
I was so determined to make it fit that I dusted off my sewing machine and made some necessary alterations. After seam ripping my stitches out more times than I can count and several hours of time well spent (or wasted depending on who you ask!), the dress finally fit like a glove. While it now fits perfectly, I learned my lesson- if they don't have your size, don't buy it!

Back to outfit formula #1! After you find a stripe piece in your size (love this & this), you can start styling your outfit with the right accessories, shoes, and a fabulous bag! If you go with a navy or blue and white stripe, adding red accessories will give your outfit a patriotic touch perfect for any July 4th party!
I chose a red scarf that belonged to my precious great grandmother and my red Rebecca Minkoff bag to accent the navy and white stripe dress. I love wearing this scarf because it reminds me of my great grandmother; her name was Hattie and she made THE BEST biscuits I’ve ever eaten!
After you’ve created the perfect mix of red, white, and blue you’ll need to find a comfortable pair sandals. I opted for my favorite sandals ever, the Dolce Vita Lyndon gladiators. Chances are that you’ll be somewhere sunny for the 4th, so a hat is always a good idea! You know I love a boater hat and paired with stripes, it creates a subtle nautical feel- #socute!

The second outfit formula is for all of you who are lucky enough to be at the beach or on the lake (or even in your back yard with a kiddy pool!)! Like the first ensemble idea, this one incorporates stripes in the form of a super cute bikini. Lounge on this amazing popsicle pool float and keep your skin protected with some retro shades and a chic floppy hat. With these pieces you're all set for a patriotic pool party!
