What could be better than being able to workout at home, burn a lot of calories in a short amount of time, AND get some house or computer work done all at once?! I've been doing this workout every Monday and it will kick your booty, but being able to do the dishes or edit some blog photos while I'm working out is an A+ workout in my book. The dishes aren't going to do themselves after all, and a true girl boss has to be excellent at multi-tasking! Keep reading for more details of my High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) workout!
The best part about this workout is that all you need is a jump rope and a very small space with hardwood or concrete floors. Currently, our kitchen has a very small slice of hardwood and even though it may seem too small, it's perfect! My jump rope is weighted and it isn't heavy at all, but I can tell it makes a difference the next day when my arms are sore.
Ok, so here is how it works. You're going to jump rope as fast as you possibly can for one minute. Then, you will rest for a minute. During the minutes I'm not jumping rope, I'll pick up things around the house, type a blog post, or edit photos. You only have a minute of downtime for each round, so you're limited on what area of the house you can work on. Just focus on simple tasks for example, I might quickly edit one photo and then pick up my jump rope so I'm ready for the next round.
If this is your first time doing a HIIT workout like this, try 20-30 minutes to start (so 15 minutes of jumping rope, 15 min rest). I'm up to 40-50 minutes after doing this once a week for a couple of months, but it's still very challenging! Since I don't have a stopwatch, I just use my iPhone to track my time. First, I go to my settings and turn the auto lock to "never."
Next, I set my timer. I make sure I have my jump rope in hand and I'm ready to go as soon as I hit the start button!
What are your favorite at-home workouts?! The new building Mr. Jones and I are moving to doesn't have a gym, so I might have to come up with a lot more of these!
Thank you so much for stopping by Me & Mr. Jones today, I hope you have a great day!
