This year I left behind our beloved flocked tree from Walmart. We had had it since our first Christmas in California 5 years ago and I was ready for something new! To modernize it a bit, I put it in the Crate & Barrel sphere planter and it looks AMAZING! In today’s post I’m sharing more about the tree decor, giving you some tips, and linking everything for you to shop!
I always start with lots of pretty ribbons and garland to help fill the tree and make it look full before putting ornaments on. This year I wanted our tree to coordinate with the TV art I downloaded from Etsy so I added a maroon/burgundy ribbon with all of the black and white ornaments from last year. I also added a top hat as a tree topper! I ordered this before finding the TV artwork but it’s so perfect! There’s a video on reels with tips to add ribbon here!
The tree we got this year is only 6’, but in the sphere planter it’s perfect for 8’ ceilings. I added lots and lots of cardboard boxes inside of the planter so that the tree is sturdy. I love how modern it looks AND having a shorter tree means it’s less expensive to decorate! I read somewhere that said you need 9 feet of ribbon per foot of tree but that’s definitely overkill. I would say it’s more like 6-7 feet of ribbon per foot of tree.
This year I re-used a lot of my old ornaments but added these fun disco ball ornaments. They sparkle like diamonds in the morning sun and reflect little beams of light onto the walls. It’s simply magical! My other favorite ornament on this tree is of course all of Jett’s Santa photo ornaments. I get these dated ornaments every year and they are so incredibly special! My tip for ornaments is to choose a color scheme and get different sizes and textures in whatever colors you chose. It keeps things interesting! Shop everything below and Happy Holidays!
