My second trimester was a bit of a rough road with lots of unexpected and very random side effects. Being comfortable became even more of a priority because I wasn't feeling my best. In today's post I'm sharing some of my favorite outfits from the second trimester and a little bit more about my pregnancy during this time!
My second trimester was difficult for many reasons, but the main one being that I gained A LOT of weight! It made me feel incredibly uncomfortable and self conscious especially when I wore pants! Dresses became my go-to uniform and are basically all I wear now in my third trimester.
To sum my second trimester up with one word would be ROUGH. I had to switch doctors around 20 weeks because I had no chance to even see an actual doctor at the practice I had been going to. They kept cancelling my appointments with the doctor, so I would see a PA but after this happening a few times, I felt incredibly uncomfortable. I'm SO GLAD that I switched doctors and my advice to you if you're ever in this situation is to trust your gut!
After switching doctors, my new doctor told me at my very first appointment that I had gained entirely too much weight and needed to see a nutritionist. It confirmed what I had thought all along and luckily nothing was wrong and causing the weight gain. Unfortunately for me, weight gain is just how my body is dealing with a growing baby (and I'll admit, I cave to cravings WAY to often)! That didn't really make me feel any better about my larger self but seeing a nutritionist ended up being very eye opening and I'm really glad that I went to the appointment and didn't cancel it.
If you watch my Instagram stories, you might have seen that I went to the chiropractor for the first time during my second trimester! Our little wild man had his foot wedged in my ribcage and actually ended up cracking one of my ribs. I haven't experienced labor pains just yet, but I'm hoping they don't hurt worse than this did. It was SO PAINFUL and sleeping, bending down, getting out of bed, coughing, laughing, etc all made me feel like I was going to cry I was in so much pain. Luckily the pain subsided after a few weeks but boy oh boy, I hope one day baby Jones repays me by being professional soccer player and buying his parents a vacation home in Hawaii- ha!
The last big (and very random) side effect that happened to me during the second trimester was the loss of my eyelashes (RIP)! My waterproof mascara usually slides right off after my face has been wet in the shower for a few minutes, but I started noticing that the mascara was sliding off with CLUMPS of eyelashes. This went on for about two weeks or so and I was left with thin and very short broken off lashes. It was devastating! They still aren't back to normal (I'm 36 weeks as I type this post), but with the help of Rodan + Fields eyelash serum they've gotten a lot better!
All in all, I'm glad that the second trimester was the hardest because I don't know how I would've dealt with a lot of those issues later on in my pregnancy. They would have been even harder! I hope you enjoyed today's post and found a little bit of outfit inspiration if you're pregnant as well! Thank y'all so much for stopping by!

Haley
