JETT'S 6 MONTH UPDATE

January 18, 2019 Haley Jones

I’m a little behind on monthly updates (Jett just turned 8 months), but I still wanted to share a 6 month update with y’all since I had everything documented. I know I say in every update post that time is flying, but every month that goes by seems to go faster and faster. My only parenting advice continues to be soak up every single moment (even the bad ones) because they don’t last long! Oh and take a bagillion photos because those last forever!

LIKES:

Oddly enough he loves taking medicine which is great because he is teething! He has two lower teeth and one top tooth just came through. He now can take Motrin which is really helpful for teething. He LOVES playing with empty water bottles so much so he gets frustrated sometimes when we want to actually drink one instead of letting him play with it.

DISLKIKES:

This month, he officially hates when we wipe his face. YIKES.

MILESTONES:

21 weeks- Second trip to Kentucky! He did so good but required toys this time around to keep him occupied while he wasn’t napping or breastfeeding. I packed 5 toys and put each one on a pacifier clip so that I could clip them to him and he couldn’t throw them on the ground!

22 weeks- started sleeping on his belly at night. He technically tried doing this at 20 weeks but we kept waking up to turn him back over. When I was in Kentucky I slept with him next to my bed in a pack n’ play so that I could make sure he was ok! This week finally gave me the confidence to let him sleep on his belly after we got home. He’s been either side sleeping or sleeping on his belly ever since.

23 weeks- Jett had cereal for the first time! I mixed it with pears so he wouldn’t get constipated and he LOVED it. He wasn’t terrific at eating, but after a few weeks he was a pro.

24 weeks- played peek-a-boo all o n his own with a burp cloth. This might have been a fluke because he hasn’t done it since, but he played peek-a-boo one day for 5 minutes and it was the CUTEST THING EVER!

SLEEP:

Jett is still sleeping through the night with occasional waking up. We now keep 3 Wubbanubs in his crib so that he can reach one no matter where he is and they don’t fall out of the crib which is nice. He goes down around 7 and wakes at 6:45 for school.

FEED:

Jett is now eating 2 meals a day! He started off eating cereal for a couple of weeks at night, but we had to increase the amount of solids he was getting quickly. After the first two weeks, he started eating a second solids meal at daycare for “lunch.” He eats cereal during the day mixed with apple juice or applesauce. At night I give him cereal mixed with baby food pears or another fruit to make it a little bit sweeter. He also has 1/3 to 1/2 a jar of veggies with dinner. Unfortunately for me, I still have to pump twice a day as his milk intake hasn’t gone down at all. I’m now pumping all but one of the bottles he takes every day and for that one he just gets a frozen bag of milk. Hopefully our freezer stash will last until he is 12 months but we shall see!

I think that just about covers everything for his 6 month update. I’ll try to get his 7 and 8 month updates soon too. I hope y’all have an amazing weekend!

Xo,

Haley

I know I can’t be the only mom out there who is horrible at printing photos. Jett is almost three and all I have are a bunch of polaroids scattered about. Even though I’m bad at printing photos, I found a simple way to keep select works of art that I think it pretty genius. I also started to keep some of said polaroids in it as well as Christmas cards, Santa photos, etc. I’m telling you all about it in today’s post!
