Being on time isn't always easy especially when you get into a routine of hitting the snooze button a few times. One day you're a few minutes late and a week later it turns into 30. While being tardy to work every once in awhile might not hurt your reputation at the office, routine offenses will. Today I'm giving you 4 tips that will help you save time in the morning so you can sleep in and show up on time looking the part!
After moving to Seattle, Mr. Jones and I downsized to one vehicle and he takes me to work every morning. We have to leave at the exact same time every day because if I'm late, he will be late to work as well. Being on time is SUPER important to him and it's rubbed off on me, so all of the time-saving tips in today's post are ones I use almost every day. They save me at least 30 minutes in the morning, allowing me to get some extra shut eye (which is extremely important when I stay up late blogging)! So, wake up and let's get started!
TIP #1: DON'T WASH YOUR HAIR
I rarely wash my hair every day even when I workout. This saves me major time in the morning because I can just throw my hair up in a topknot and take a quick shower. The trick is to use a great dry shampoo that will battle the oil in your hair and the yummy scent doesn't hurt either. Mr. Jones despised the smell of my previous dry shampoo, but he likes the Dove scent and so do I- yay!
TIP #2: SHOWER BEFORE GOING TO BED
In my opinion, shower time should always be your "me" time and you shouldn't have to rush (really soaking up my time before having kids here, ok)! Instead of being in a rush and cutting yourself while shaving, just shower at night! If you have to wash your hair, just put it up in a really tight topknot while it's wet and dry it in the morning. Sometimes I don't even dry it the rest of the way and just re-do my top-knot in the a.m.! Whatever works!
TIP #3: CUT DOWN ON BLOW-DRY TIME
If you have to wash your hair, cutting down the time it takes to dry your mane is crucial. I recently got this fabulous Fromm 1907 paddle brush and didn't think it would make a huge difference and boy was I wrong! My thick hair usually takes FOREVER to dry and I despise this part of my getting ready routine. The aluminum on the Fromm Hot Paddle Brush retains heat and majorly reduces dry time and I don't know how I ever lived without one! I would HIGHLY recommend trying this hair brush if you have thick hair- they also have a round brush version!
TIP #4: PLAN YOUR OUTFITS THE NIGHT BEFORE
This is the easiest of all four tips and will save you so much time! Decide what you're wearing the night before and the key is to actually try it on unless you've worn the outfit before. After you pick something out, iron or steam it and hang it up with absolutely everything you will need- including socks and undergarments! This includes jewelry, shoes, and your handbag! Try this once and you will be hooked- it makes getting ready in the morning SO much faster and you'll look effortlessly put together and polished!
