When most of us think about music festival fashion, we automatically picture those mega babes from Coachella in crazy, yet somehow cool outfits most of us wouldn’t ever wear on a daily basis. If you have a music event lined up this summer and are thinking you need a new wardrobe, think again! There are so many things you have in your closet already that can make you music festival ready with a few styling tricks and some bold accessories. Today I’m sharing 3 easy steps to create a unique fest ready #ootd with items you already own!
1. START WITH BASICS
I would imagine that most of you own a pair of denim shorts, but if not, you can grab some from Old Navy without breaking the bank (I just got these and LOVE the fit)! Another basic perfect for your music festival ensemble is a white tank or even a vintage rock n’ roll tee!
2. RE-THINK & RE-STYLE
Some items in your closet could be perfect for a music festival, but you have to change your perspective to find them & re-style them to fit the look you're going for. The BB Dakota dress I wore in this post and this post created the most amazing flowy “cardigan” and really took my jeans and tee look to the next level. I also re-styled my white cutoff tee by tying it in a knot in the back to create a crop top. The good news is you can do this with pretty much any shirt or even a dress (see examples here & here)!
3. PILE ON THE ACCESSORIES
Fabulous jewelry can easily be the exclamation mark of your casual #ootd. If you’re shopping your closet and don’t have any statement necklaces to wear, just layer smaller necklaces that have different lengths! The same layering technique goes for bracelets and rings, and mixing metals is ideal when you’re creating an eclectic look.
Will you be hitting up any music festivals this summer?! If you’re in Louisville for Forecastle, make sure you stop by Crosley’s mobile record store truck! They have a plethora of LP’s from our favorite rock bands to current artists like Jay-Z and T-Swift AND their truck has air conditioning. Feel cool and buy cool stuff, that’s a win-win in my book!
