When Mr. Jones and I moved to our industrial loft in Seattle, we had to majorly downsize. Our bedroom is so small we couldn't even fit our bed- say what?! In today's post I'm going to show you 3 space saving hacks I used to fit everything (and even create more storage) in our teeny tiny master bedroom!
SHOP THE POST:
1. STORAGE BED FRAME
The storage bed frame was a LIFE SAVER! Having our box spring and mattress on the floor for a couple of weeks made me feel like we were living in someone else's college apartment- not cute. While the storage bed frame was amazing because our bed was no longer on the floor, it still looked pretty yuck considering you could see everything that was stored underneath. I DIY'd a bed skirt but I've linked similar ones that would work here too! Make sure you watch the video at the bottom of this post to see how to DIY your own bed skirt and how the room came together!
2. VINTAGE TRUNK NIGHTSTAND
Another way to create more storage- hooray! We didn't have two nightstands, so I stacked one of our antique trunks and a replica antique trunk beside the bed. You can easily do this with any trunk or suitcase that has a flat bottom and top. To finish it off, I added a wooden tray with some of my favorite knick knacks (we used antique trophy cups as vases at our wedding and I'm still OBSESSED!) and it works perfectly as both a side table and storage!
3. JEWELRY & HAT STORAGE/DISPLAY
If you are decorating a small bedroom, chances are the closet is small too. Storing some of your accessories outside of the closet is a great way to save some room for more clothing. Hats for example can be hung on decorative hooks arranged in a gallery wall type fashion (and the same goes for handbags)! Jewelry can serve as decor as well! I display all of mine on this DIY marble tray and absolutely love it!
